RISA ISSUE BRIEF Volume 10, Issue 2 (August 2026) It is with great pleasure that I introduce this second issue of Volume 10 of Jurnal RISA: Riset Arsitektur. This edition brings together five research articles that, read together, trace a shared concern running through contemporary architectural inquiry in Indonesia: how the built environment carries, tests, and renews cultural identity and communal life, from the smallest material detail to the shared spaces of a whole city.The issue opens with two studies on how cultural heritage continues to inform design practice, examining the neo-vernacular character of a Riau Malay traditional hall and a framework for transforming cultural iconography into design principles for heritage-area landmarks in Cirebon. A third contribution turns to the building material itself, presenting a preliminary study on forming composites from wood sanding dust, a reminder that architectural innovation also begins in the workshop and the laboratory. The final two articles bring the discussion to the scale of shared public space, examining how patterns of community activity shape placemaking in an open public space in Bengkulu City and proposing a placemaking-based revitalization of a sports park in Riau.Taken as a whole, this issue reflects the breadth that has always defined Jurnal RISA: a willingness to move between the scale of a single wall panel and the scale of a city square, between material experimentation and cultural meaning, without losing sight of the people for whom architecture is ultimately made. We hope this issue offers both fresh findings and fresh questions.Bandung, August 2026 Chief Editor Jurnal RISA (Riset Arsitektur) Indri Astrina Fitria Indrarani
