Deformation Resistance of Stone Mastic Asphalt Mixtures With Fiber Mesh Added Materials
Abstrak
One of the factors causing road damage is excessive traffic load (overloading). Excessive traffic loads result in the deformation of the asphalt surface layer. Deformation is an important damage to road pavement conditions because it affects the quality of traffic comfort. Stone Mastic Asphalt is a type of hot asphalt mixture that is able to withstand heavy vehicle loads. Stone Mastic Asphalt contains high levels of asphalt, so it requires additional materials (additives) that can stabilize and provide strength, namely fiber. Synthetic fibers can be produced cheaply in large quantities, one of which is fiber mesh. The aim of the research is to analyze the effect of fiber mesh as an additional material on the deformation resistance of the stone-mastic asphalt mixture. This research is experimental in the laboratory by making samples in the form of a mixture of SMA with fiber mesh as an additive (fiber). The fiber mesh used in this research is fiber mesh with a content of 0.3% of the total weight of the mixture and a length of 0.36 cm. The mixture was tested using wheel tracking equipment to determine the effect of fiber mesh on the deformation value that occurred. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the comparison of deformation without and using fiber mesh shows that deformation changes are increasingly reduced in the presence of fiber mesh. This shows better deformation resistance than without using fiber mesh.
