A Contractor Strategies in Concurrent Multi Construction Project Management

Abstrak

The construction industry faces challenges in managing multiple projects simultaneously or Concurrent Project Management (CPM), especially for small-medium contractors who have limited resources.The management of experts, finances, equipment, and materials become crucial factors in determining the success of multiple projects.This research aims to analyze contractor strategies in CPM to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in project implementation.The research method used is a qualitative approach with semi-structured interviews with two small-medium contractors, CV.Malaya Cipta Nusa,CV.Putyra Swarna Dwipa,who managed five construction projects simultaneously in Batang Hari Regency.The data obtained was thematically analyzed to identify the strategies applied in resource management. The results showed that the main strategies in CPM include labor rotation between projects to optimize productivity, flexibility in fund allocation to maintain smooth cash flow, rental of heavy equipment as a cost efficiency measure, and utilization of leftover materials between projects to reduce waste. Although these strategies proved effective, challenges remained, such as limited skilled manpower, financial risks due to the use of funds across projects, and the need for close supervision of equipment and materials. Therefore, the implementation of a technology-based management system and stricter supervision is recommended to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of multi-construction project implementation for small-medium contractors.
