ORIENTASI DAN CORAK PEMBARUAN DALAM ISLAM (KAJIAN TERHADAP RESPONS MASYARAKAT ISLAM)

Abstrak

The aimof this article is to talk about the orientation of modernization and to describe the tipology of responses of ummah towards modernization in the Islamic world. Although modernization had always been a controversial issue in Islamic world, principally, there was no difference of spirit or orientation among Moslem community in order to optimize the understanding of divine doctrines and to contextualize it in all aspects of human life in modern Islamic world towards modernization. They have, however, variant responses to modernization. Therewere three mainstreams of responses in several varieties among Moslem community to modernization, such as revivalism-conservatism-puritanism; adaptive-reformism-liberalism, and radicalism-fundamentalism.
