Abstrak

The research problems is linguistic activities in fifth Class, religion department at Sumatera Thawalib school Parabek Bukit tinggi, indicate that there is an Arabic linguistic environment such as language day, conversation group, public speaking training after the noon prayer, and there is a private Arabic society (Top 20 Arabic). Who became his students like in the application of speech in Arabic. The research objectives: To find out the relationship between the Arabic language environment and the speaking skill of students in the secondary school of Sumatera Thawalib school Parabek Bukit tinggi. This research is quantitative and descriptive. The data collection methods are observation, interview and test. As for the research community, students of the Religion Department in the fifth class. The research analysis use a questionnaire with validity test, reliability test and normality test with SPSS. the research results, there is a correlation between Arabic environment and the student’s speaking skills with a significance value (0.204 < 0.05). The correlation between Arabic environment and the students speaking skills is not strong, although there is a positive relationship between them. Based on this result, researcher found that the result r (correlation coefficient) 0.362 means that the Arabic environment variable can explain the speech skill variable by 36.2% and the rest is explained by other variables outside the research.
