Hubungan Efek Samping ARV dengan Kepatuhan Minum Obat pada Pasien HIV/AIDS Di Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Kota Bandung

Abstrak

Background: One of the pharmacological treatments for people living with HIV/AIDS is antiretroviral therapy. The side effects that arise sometimes cause PLWHA to be non-compliant with ARV intake, which can have fatal consequences for their survival. Objective: To analyze the relationship between ARV side effects and adherence to ARV treatment among PLWHA at Bandung City General Hospital. Method: This study was conducted at Bandung City General Hospital using a quantitative method and a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 99 respondents. The research instruments used were the HIV Symptom Index questionnaire and the 8-item Morisky Medication Adherence Scale, which were analyzed using the Chi-square test. Result: The results showed that the majority of respondents (45.5%) experienced moderate side effects from taking ARVs, and the majority (35.4%) of respondents demonstrated high adherence to ARV treatment, while 34 (34.3%) did not. The Chi-square test yielded a p-value of 0.001. Conclution: Based on the results of the Chi-square test, it can be concluded that there is a significant association between side effects and adherence to ARV treatment among PLWHA at Bandung City General Hospital.
