Struktur, Makna, dan Fungsi Sastra Lisan Toes Eka Ho’e dalam Tradisi Pertanian Suku Atoni Pah Meto: Structure, Meaning, and Function of Toes Eka Ho’e in Atoni Pah Meto Agricultural Tradition
Abstrak
This study examines the structural organization, functions, and meanings of Toes Eka Ho’e, a form of oral literature practiced by the Sallu community in West Miomaffo, Timor. Employing a qualitative descriptive methodology grounded in structural analysis, the study draws on data collected from ritual utterances performed by customary informants. The analytical procedures involved transcription, identification of structural components, and interpretive analysis of functions and meanings based on the internal relations among textual elements. The findings reveal that Toes Eka Ho’e is constituted by six principal structural components: diction, lines, stanzas, figurative language, layers of meaning, and functions. Structurally, the text comprises eight stanzas, each consisting of three to six lines, with syllabic variation ranging from six to eighteen syllables per line. The dominant rhetorical devices include personification, paradox, repetition, pleonasm, euphemism, and hyperbole. The semantic dimension encompasses both symbolic and figurative meanings. Functionally, Toes Eka Ho’e fulfills religious, mythological, and social roles within the community. This study contributes to the advancement of scholarship on Indonesian oral literature and supports ongoing efforts to document and preserve the cultural heritage and local wisdom of the Atoni Pah Meto people.
