Abstrak

One of the phenomena in wearing traditional South Mollo clothes is the Pilu pattern (head cover) for Usif (king) who resembles a deer, containing the philosophy of “Lus tae Nonoa on the head” a symbol of glory, power, and might. The Timor deer (Cervus Timorensis) is an endemic animal typical of TTS Regency, which is now almost extinct. One of the causes of the criticism of the Timor deer ecosystem is the reduction in the original habitat of the Timor deer, namely in the hills and mountains that have become residential areas and tourist attractions. Therefore, it is not surprising that there is a common thread between the extinction of several endemic animals that represent local wisdom of human relations with nature in South Mollo traditional clothes and the reduced use of lexicon of South Mollo traditional clothes in everyday life. This phenomenon serves as the foundation for examining the lexicons of elements and components forming South Mollo traditional dress, along with their philosophical meanings. This study applied a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, gathering data through in-depth interviews and field observations.
