Prayers for Family Well-being
Abstrak
One of the factors that influences family well-being is spiritual practices, particularly through prayer (do’a). In this context, this study examines the Kumpulan Doa (Prayer Collection) manuscript, a written tradition of the Bugis people, to analyze how Islamic legal values are interwoven with local practices, particularly in prayers related to family well-being. This research explores prayers focused on sustenance and soul mates, demonstrating the manuscript's relevance to familial concerns. Utilizing discourse analysis, this study identifies and examines the construction of prayer within the Kumpulan Doa, revealing the interplay between Islamic legal principles and Bugis cultural norms. The findings demonstrate that the manuscript reflects a deep understanding of Islamic teachings, especially Sufism, which are integrated into daily Bugis life through prayer. Notably, the compatibility between local values and Islamic teachings facilitates the internalization of these principles, particularly in relation to family well-being. This research contributes to understanding the living and evolving nature of Islamic legal values within the Bugis community, particularly as they pertain to the sustenance and formation of family units.
