Abstrak

Health checks on qurban animals as a crucial preventive measure can ensure the safety of animal-derived food and prevent the transmission of zoonotic diseases. This community service activity is aimed at carrying out antemortem and postmortem examinations on qurban animals and educating the public about the urgency of health aspects in the slaughtering process. This activity focused on the Al-Adlin Mosque in Binawidya District, Pekanbaru City, coinciding with the Eid al-Adha celebrations. The methods used were clinical observation during the antemortem stage and macroscopic pathological evaluation of internal organs during the postmortem stage. Examination results showed that most animals were clinically normal, although hypersalivation was observed in some buffalo. Parasitic infestations, including Fasciola sp. in the liver and Paramphistomum sp. larvae in the stomach, were found. The examination team recommended that infected organs be removed according to proper procedures, although the meat was generally safe for consumption. Through a preventive approach as a direct contribution to public health and increasing awareness of food safety practices, the role of competent personnel is highlighted.
